The Technical Rehearsal, Dress Rehearsal and Performances will be held at the San Mateo Performing Arts Center, 600 N. Delaware San Mateo (next to San Mateo High School).

We urge you to buy tickets in advance to ease the long lines at the theatre. Prices are $15.00 children (2-12 yrs) and seniors, and $20.00 adults. Tickets are available for purchase at the school and during theatre rehearsals. Groups of 15 or more will receive a 5 % discount on advance ticket purchases.

Theatre Procedures for Technical Rehearsal
San Mateo Performing Arts Center 600 N. Delaware St. San Mateo
1. All dancers in Part 1 must be at the theatre to begin rehearsal at 5:30 pm. See bulletin board for which part your child is in.
2. When the dancers are finished with their dance, they may leave immediately afterwards when they are dismissed.
3. Dancers in Part 2 should be ready to rehearse at 7:30 pm. Dancers will rehearse in order of appearance in program. When dancers are done with their dance they may leave when they are dismissed.
4. “Enigma” is scheduled to rehearse from 9:00-10:45 pm but may finish earlier.
5. All dancers should wear regular dance clothes with cover-ups for warmth.
6. Hair should be done, but no make-up is needed at Technical Rehearsal.
7. Please feed children before coming to the theatre as no food or drink is allowed in the auditorium.
8. During Technical Rehearsal there will be a station set up in the lobby of the theatre to demo stage make-up and hairdos for dancers in Part 1.
9. Parents may stay in the theatre during the Technical Rehearsal but may not sit with the dancers unless they are chaperones.
10. All chaperones must attend the mandatory chaperone meeting which is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, at 3:00. Any chaperones who can’t make this meeting or anyone with any questions please call Carol Stewart at 631-8872 or 438-2842.
Dress Rehearsal and Performance Procedures
Rules and Regulations & Performance Agreement
Note: Please read all procedures and return your signed Performance Agreement to Professional Ballet School by Monday May 19.
1. For Dress Rehearsal and Performances all dancers arriving at San Mateo Performing Arts Center must sign in at the Artists Entrance. All dancers under 12 years old must be signed in and out by a parent or guardian. Please pick your child upduring the intermission that follows the last dance your child was in. They may then watch the rest of the Performance in street clothes.
2. Jazz dancers – dancing only in Part 2 – will be signed in at PBS and signed out at the theatre.
7. Children will be signed out at the intermission immediately following their last dance. Parents should
wait at the Artists Entrance for their children. Dancers will be checked out in groups, in order of dance.

8. Be prompt and arrive at the designated time. Dancers should note which dressing room their dance is assigned to and follow the instructions of the parent chaperones and helpers.
9. No talking when leaving for and standing backstage.
10. Once in costume, NO sliding, NO climbing, NO running, NO sitting on the floor, NO gum, NO food, NO sodas, and NO hands near lipstick or make-up.
11. Plenty of water and some light snacks will be available to the dancers in all dressing rooms. Please do not bring other food or drinks from home.
12. Parents working backstage will be able to go into the theatre to watch their child(ren) perform.
13. PBS students are not allowed to smoke cigarettes anywhere on the theatre premises.
14. Make-up must be done at home for all dancers in Part 1 and jazz.(Level 5/6 & up may do make-up at the theatre). Younger dancers should wear light base, neutral eye shadows and pink/red lipstick and light blush. Avoid brown, blue or purple toned lipstick. Older dancers(Level 4 and up) should wear heavy street to full stage make-up. Speak with your instructor regarding make-up, hair and accessories.
15. Hair should be done at home. Buns should be slicked up and pinned securely in a high bun, covered with a transparent hairnet then sprayed. Dancers with ponytails instead of buns should also have their hair slicked back! Remember there will be a hair and make-up demo in the theatre lobby during Tech. Rehearsal and May 20th 23rd 27th, and 30th from 4:00-6:00 in the afternoon at the studio.
16. All dancers should remove all jewelry at home. (Advanced ballet girls talk to Carmie re: earrings)
17. DO NOT bring valuables to the theatre.
18. Nail polish is not allowed on stage.
19. All dancers in ballet should arrive for Performances and Dress Rehearsal in a good pair of pink seamless tights with no runs and holes. It is always a good idea to bring an extra pair.
20. Girls- No underpants should be worn under pink ballet tights as they are bulky and show on stage. Prepare your girls by sending them to regular dance class without underpants so they can get use to tights only.
21. Boys- Boys should wear underpants or an athletic supporter.
22. All dancers must remember their dance shoes and make sure they are in good repair with elastics sewn on.
