Young Artists Ballet Theatre (YABT) is a non-profit, semi-professional ballet company. It was established in 1993 to further enhance the training and artistic experience of an extraordinary group of young dancers in the Advanced Division of Professional Ballet School in Belmont CA.

The company performances present mid-peninsula audiences with diverse programs including classical, neo-classical, jazz and modern repertoire, performed by exciting new local talents and well known guest artists. The outstanding artistic and technical level of these performances serve one of the Company's goals of  raising awareness and dance appreciation in our community.

As stated by its name, Young Artists Ballet Theatre serves as a stepping stone for young committed people towards a professional career, along with providing enriching performance experiences to those young dancers who may not meet professional physical criteria, or who are simply dancing for pleasure.

The idea of founding YABT was a natural extension of the training program offered by Carmela & Zoltan Peter (Directors of Professional Ballet School) and proved to be a successful enterprise. While supported only by minimal private donations, YABT was able to sponsor several dancers chosen through national auditions to study at company affiliated schools such as Joffrey Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Boston Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet and the Kirov Ballet Institute. Several dancers are currently performing professionally with Peninsula Ballet Theatre. To date YABT has been presented through annual benefit performances sponsored by Professional Ballet School with a regular audience of about 700.
